One word to describe the Mount: Community

As William Wiacek completes his final semester at the Mount, he is looking back on a number of amazing experiences he will take with him as he makes the next step in life.

Thanks to the wonderful Psychology faculty, William feels prepared for the future. “I love the Psychology staff. The professors are amazing, they take their time to make sure you understand what you are learning, and they are great people to get to know!” In fact, he enjoyed his Intro to Psychology class so much that he switched his major to Psychology as a result. The start of the new school semester brings college seniors a bittersweet mix of emotions as the Class of 2019 begins the countdown to graduation. We sat down with some of the members of the Class of 2019 to learn more about how they’re feeling during this final year at the Mount. Here is an interview with seniors Tristan Earl, a Psychology major, and Christina Nazario, a Business Administration major:

What were some of your favorite classes?

Tristan: “My favorite classes had to have been Bio-Psychology and Experimental Psychology.”

Psyched about Psychology

When Jacqueline Hogan, a senior Psychology major, first began at the Mount in 2015, she began as a Biology major on the Pre-Physical Therapy track. However, after completing a shadow experience in physical therapy, she realized that her true calling was occupational therapy and switched to Psychology instead.

While she enjoyed being part of the Division of Natural Sciences, especially the close relationships with faculty, Jacqueline’s experience with the Division of Social Sciences has been just as positive.

“I believe the academic division supports the students greatly,” she said. “I have never felt uncomfortable to ask a question in class if I was confused or wanted more detail. I feel as if they want all their students to succeed in life. My professors have always welcomed us to office hours, and I am very happy with the professors at the Mount.” Continue Reading

One could say that Dr. Paul Schwartz is dedicated to the Mount and its students – he’s been a professor at the college since 1977!
