Insuring My Future

Taylor Walton, a senior mathematics student at the Mount, completed an internship with ConnectiCare during the summer of 2014.

This past summer, I completed an actuarial internship with ConnectiCare, a health insurance agency in Connecticut. Throughout my internship, I learned an abundance of information, from healthcare reform regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the impact it has on the healthcare market, to the different lines of business (individual, small group, and large group). I also gained knowledge about the different pharmaceutical aspects of healthcare and the impact they have on the cost of health insurance. Continue Reading

Summer Work Experience

My experience at White Plains Hospital (WPH) was nothing short of incredible.

This summer, I worked two, three-week rotations – my first in the Emergency Room and the second on the 5F, or oncology, floor. I was hired there (yes, hired with pay) into their Nurse Apprentice Program for the summer to assist the nurses and nurse technicians in their daily duties, while observing their work.

Marketing at the Mount

Interning this past semester has taught me more than I ever thought I could learn, not only about my field, but about myself as well. I was lucky enough to have an internship in the Marketing Office at the College. During my time there, I experienced first-hand every aspect of marketing, including photography and videography, advertising, web content management, social media management, and so much more.
