Dear Class of 2018,

As you are looking ahead to your future, the Class of 1968 is looking back as we anticipate being on campus again for out 50th reunion. Fifty years has flown by, filled with jobs, marriages (and some divorces), children, grandchildren, deaths, travel, retirement, volunteering, and all of the other factors that are a part of life. For some of us the path was straight; for others there were bumps in the road as well as twists and turns. But for each of us who are returning this September, Mount Saint Mary College is a part of the foundation of our adulthood.  Continue Reading

Congratulations class of 2018!!!

The day that you have been counting down to, dreading, and patiently waiting for is right around the corner. The long nights of studying, chatting, and raiding The View have ended, but that does not mean it is over. The uneasiness of the future might be creeping up, but don’t sound the Sakac fire alarms yet.

Dear Class of 2018,

Wow – the time has come! I know some of you may have been dreading this moment of saying goodbye to the Mount, and some of you may be anxious to start this next chapter in your life. The “real world” seems scary, but trust me, it’s going to be okay! Take a deep breath, set some goals, talk to your friends and family, and never lose sight of what you’ve been working towards.

The summer after graduating is going to feel kind of weird. In fact, I felt the most off when I saw all my friends from the Class of 2018 moving back on campus at the end of August, and all my dorm stuff was still sitting in my shed. Luckily, I have some good news for you…THE MOUNT ISN’T GOING ANYWHERE! You can still visit and get an omelet from Steve, you can still go to basketball games in the winter, and you can still say hi to Joe in Sakac! Although it may not be a hop, skip, and a jump away like it is now, the Mount has given you reasons to want to come back. Embrace all of the memories you’ve made these past for years and find time to come back and “take a walk down memory lane.” Continue Reading

Mount Saint Mary College’s spring Nursing Class of 2018

As members of the Mount Saint Mary College’s Class of 2018 prepare to walk across the stage at graduation in just a few weeks, there’s one thing Colin Cassidy doesn’t have to worry about – finding a job.

That’s because the senior Nursing major has already landed a position as an emergency room nurse at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.

Here’s what Colin had to say about finding this job, the Nursing major, and his Mount experience as a whole:

“I have really enjoyed my past four years here at the Mount. The School of Nursing has really gone above and beyond to make my experience and education the best it can be. Between the exceptional staff and the diverse range of clinical experiences, the Mount has given me every opportunity to learn and grow into the type of nurse I want to be. Continue Reading
