Plan on visiting the Mount soon for an admissions event? Make a day or weekend of it in the beautiful Hudson Valley!

Newburgh Waterfront

Fantastic places to eat like Billy Joe’s Ribworks and Blu Pointe, a gorgeous walk along the water, and even the option for a cruise on the Hudson River, the Newburgh waterfront has it all.

Walkway Over the Hudson

The Walkway Over the Hudson is a former bridge turned walking pathway suspended above the glistening Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, NY, about a half hour from the Mount’s campus. The views alone are worth the trip, and the Walkway society will often hold events over the summer like Movies Under the Walkway, fireworks, and more.

Washington’s Headquarters

It’s an incredible historic landmark just a few minutes from campus. Learn about George Washington’s life, his time in Newburgh, and the role of the Hudson River in the American Revolution at Washington’s Headquarters.

Beacon downtown

A quick drive over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge will bring you to the quaint downtown of Beacon, an up and coming art and cultural center. Grab some donuts at Glazed OverĀ and take a stroll along the small businesses and quaint restaurants that line Main Street. While you’re in Beacon, be sure to check out Dia:Beacon, a local art gallery.

Explore local art at the Storm King Art Center!

West Point

The United States Military Academy at West Point is the place to go for military history, Army-Navy football games, beautiful outdoor concerts, and more. Just make sure you check out the rules for visitors before heading over.

Mount Beacon

If you’re more the adventurous type, you’ll love the challenging hikes offered along the majestic Mount Beacon, overlooking the Hudson River. When you get to the top, make sure you take a picture with your possible future alma mater in the background!

Vanderbilt Mansion

This gorgeous mansion is well worth the visit. Vanderbilt Mansion, now a historic site, is now a national historic site which often holds events during the summer and on weekends.
