This summer, I took part in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program at the Mount. I spent ten weeks researching the effects of a blood substitute called OxyVita. The program gave me an amazing opportunity to spend time at the school and in the lab just focusing on research without worrying about anything else.
The SURE program is open to students of all academic backgrounds and encourages research in all disciplines. I think the SURE program is like a community in itself; you spend a lot of time with other students working in the same discipline and build great relationships with them, as well as with faculty. I loved the time I spent here over the summer doing research. It is an opportunity that I will never forget and I look forward to spending next summer back at the Mount continuing my research.
